ABSTRACT

In this study, intestinal parasites were investigated in a total of 196 (110 male, 84 female) symptomatic children by stool examination and cellophane tape preparations in the Van State Hospital pediatric outpatient clinic. Intestinal parasites were found in 126 (64.3%) of the specimens. The rates of intestinal helminths were as follows: Enterobius vermicularis 42.9%, Ascaris lumbricoides 10.7%, Giardia intestinalis 7.2% and Entamoeba histolytica/dispar 2.0%. More than one species were determined in 1.5% of the cases.
