ABSTRACT

In this study, between December 2001 and December 2002, the presence of anti- Toxoplasma gondii antibodies were investigated in the sera of 1270 patients with a possible diagnosis of toxoplasmosis. IgG and IgM types of anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibodies were found in the samples with the ELISA method (Access- The commercial MacroELISA kit). Of the 1270 patients, 1079 (84.97%) were female and 191 (15.03%), male. Out of these patients, 552 (43.46%) were anti-Toxoplasma gondii IgG seropositive, 61(4.80%) anti-Toxoplasma gondii IgM seropositive and 18(1.41%) were both IgG and IgM seropositive. According to information in the kit, 14 IgG and 28 IgM sera were found to be borderline.
