ABSTRACT

Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis) is one of the causes of urogenital infection. Although people are infected with T. vaginalis, sometimes there are no symptoms. Especially in men, infection is frequently asymptomatic. In this study, our aim was to determine the rate of those with T. vaginalis in their urine out of the patients with gastroenteric complaints who presented at the gastroenterology clinic. Between January 2003 and December 2003, 1492 urine specimens of the patients who presented at the gastroenterology clinic were examined. The diagnosis was made by examination of the centrifuged urine. T. vaginalis was found in 3 patients (0.2 %).
