ABSTRACT
In this study, we investigated the prevalence and distribution of malaria in the city of Aydin, retrospectively. The investigation was carried out according to age, gender, and settlements between 2001 and 2003 in the region of Aydin. The records were obtained from Health Directorship of the Ministry of Health in Aydin. A total of 64 malaria cases (30 females, 34 males) had been reported during a period of three years. Compare to previous years, the prevalence of malaria had gradually decreased. These data indicated that the prevalence of malaria has gradually decreased year by year. However, since, the geographic conditions in the region of Aydin are suitable for the reproduction of Anopheles spp., the fight against malaria should be continued.
